Sleeping Well When You Are All Stressed Out

You went to bed at a decent hour.

However, you’ve been waking up all night long and having to go to the bathroom.

The next morning, the alarm goes off and you get up feeling like you’ve been hit by truck.

You got no rest in the frustration of not being able to sleep and getting up and down all night long begins to cause you stress and anxiety. You wonder about what to do and you’re not sure if you can ever really rest again.

This scenario is played out every night across America by hundreds and hundreds if not thousands of individuals who suffer with sleep apnea.

 Sleep apnea is a serious condition that affects your breathing while you sleep. Here’s what happens: when you lay down it night,  the soft tissue in the back of your throat falls down into your throat and either partially obstructs the airway or completely closes it off.

When this happens, your breathing is hampered or completely stopped  in your brain sends a signal to your body to wake up even though you have not fully gone to sleep.  This keeps you from falling into the deep restorative sleep your body needs to heal and repair itself. 

Your sleep causes a wide variety of activities to go on.  Muscles are repaired, sugar regulated and wide variety of hormonal issues are brought into balance.  However, when you don’t get the rest you need, these thing go undone and your body feels the effects of it.

Night after night, people just like you find themselves longing for the sleep that can help them live better and work better but sleep apnea keeps them from it.

They then develop heart problems, blood pressure issues and they begin to put on weight and no matter how much dieting they do, they cannot seem to get it off.  All because their entire body is out of balance due to sleep apnea.

What Should You Do

If what we have just described is you, then the first step in finding out what is going on is to have a sleep study done.  A sleep study will determine not only if you have sleep apnea, but also the severity of it.  Some people have mild sleep apnea while others have medium to severe sleep apnea.

Once you have find out if you have it, then it is imperative that you get it treated right away.  We are not saying that as a sales pitch by no means.  Simply put, sleep apnea is dangerous and if left untreated the negative health risk are numerous and serious.

The standard for treatment for years has been the CPAP which stand for “Continuous Positive Airway Pressure.”  What it does is force air down your throat through a mask over your nose to keep your airway open.  Some people can wear but many cannot.  They just cannot wear that mask over their face or deal with the hose and the noise.

That’s why we offer an alternative treatment that is FDA approved and non-surgical.  It’s called Oral Appliance Therapy. 

It is a custom made to fit device that when placed in the mouth, it moves your lower jaw slightly forward to bring the soft tissue up and out of the throat.  It’s comfortable and gives you total freedom.
